Tongling section is one of important sections in the lower of Yangtze River where Yangtze finless porpoise Neophocaena phocaenoides asaeorientalis could be found frequently with maximum quantity and density. However, with the influence of human activities, many problems that may affect the long-term conservation of Yangtze finless porpoise began to emerge, which were analyzed in this paper based on the comparison between the published data and the latest investigation results. The major problems identified include the artificially vegetation succession, the wantonly dig sand, built great irrigation works, and the disconnection between lake and river, etc. Countermeasures and suggestions for conservation of Yangtze finless porpoise were put forward as follows:1)tighten up the management with various government departments;2)harmonizing the relationship between Yangtze finless porpoise conservation and development of local economy; and 3)opening lock between lake and river.
